Chapter 2 – Gone

13 Jul

Gone is the ice age

That drifted to heart last summer

Gone is the strange tattoo

Traced the thumb in wonder

Slippered feet trudge

Through melting slush

Beats like river current

Saving drowning men from sludge

No frozen tears

There is room for only

Those warm and salty

Against defrosting cheeks

Springtime to life again

Last season

Is a memory
