Chapter 3 – In Sanctuary

21 Sep

Prophetic, probation(ary)

Backyard pools drown children

Pull virtuosity

Down below

Comfort treads water

In fathomful minds

Suffocating under pillows

Passion gasps! Then sighs

A last procession follows

Cotton fields smother

Aphids in action

She smiles as you slide

Safe? Yielding?

Among sheets of white gold

Spun as snowflakes on windy wings

Lost in found(ness)

Roofings fulfill houses (un)abound in satisfaction

Semi-saturated

Sexuality-solidarity

Deception grins at your death

Sold are your silver desires

Your life is not yours

In sanity or

In sanctuary

You simply survive

Chapter 3 – Defeat

14 Sep

I’ve got a broken heart

The size of the moon

Never want to go back there

Not anytime soon

I am a child

In a grown-up game

Nobody ever told me the rules

Or taught me how to play

What’s so fair about love and war

Easier to die lonely

Than to ever know

You were once loved

What a shame

To die old and gray

Unaware of the pleasures

Never knowing this man with only a name

No face to place my adoration

Time was sixteen stones in our path

I was born

To hide away

Keeping the faith

To keep the beat

Of what is ours

Alive

Please tell me that my efforts will

Not end in defeat

Chapter 3 – Where are You?

13 Sep

Summertime friend

It has been a cold winter

Without your hands

Holding mine

Walking the streets to

Pass away time

Do you play golf?

Or would you rather

Strip yourself clean

To run around

On the green

Let’s order some pizza

Read our poetry

Listen to the crickets sing

Then chase them

Round n’ round

‘til we fall on the ground

And the sprinklers come on

And so do we

Let’s drive away

To some desolate place

Watching meteor showers

Drinking wine

I would be your dreamer

If you would be mine

Chapter 2 – Ill

8 Aug

My heart is ill

With fever

Smoke clouds my eyes

I fear forever

My mind aches

With reason and decision

Thought brings me

No nearer to consolation

Or destination

My toes drown

In frozen fear

Breaking at the joints

Swimming restlessly

In my black shoes

Haunting you are

He is

Experience teaches me only

The need to learn more

Where is the cloud

On my sun-shiny day

How long must I search

To find my way

Back to your heart

And to stay

Chapter 2 – Folklore

4 Aug

Playing grown up games

Secretly

Without a conscience

Or a direction

To run

As destruction comes

Defiance

Persists

Resist shock waves

Of pain

To spill light again

Through the blackened eyes

And strain

Of simply being.

I have seen this vision before

Folklore

Dancing elves

And me

Singing gloomy tunes

Below them.

Chapter 2 – His Pride

4 Aug

His pride

A youthful tongue of

Fire agate

His jealousy

A raging bull, red with

The honor of my name

His eyes

A green briar, luring

Innocents to love.

He lives by a code unknown to any other

Yet by the law

He makes amends for his greed and

Ignorance

Suffering the pain

In his own loss

Of innocence.

He is a man.

Gregarious and kind.

His smile is the joy of a thousand

Irishmen.

His embrace

Heals heartbreak and

Loneliness.

He is all of this and

Nothing less

He is my only cousin

And I love him.

Chapter 2 – In Our Wake

4 Aug

I left my love for Tico

In a small world

Sisters meet to speak of their brothers.

My cousin sleeps

Tied with tourniquet sheets

To an endless railroad.

I feel his being crushed

Under iron wheels on which I sit

Even now he rumbles in my bones

Until I think I might splinter and shake.

Leaving the lonely hearts of mothers

In our wake.
